Friendly, professional, helpful

One of the things that really sets the Play Space apart is our caring, credentialed staff. Whenever you visit, you’re greeted by friendly, welcoming professionals with a passion for enriching the lives of children and families through play.

Play Facilitators

The Play Space is staffed with a team of Play Facilitators whose mission is to support children and families at play. Our team of Play Facilitators has many years of experience working with young children in a variety of settings. In addition to welcoming and orienting children and families to the Play Space, they take on many roles including:

·    Playing alongside children to enrich and extend the play experience

·    Encouraging children to try something new or join an activity

·    Providing additional toys and materials as needed or requested

· Offering an extra pair of hands (we love to hold babies when your toddler or preschooler needs your help!)

·    Maintaining the play environment and inviting children and families to help so that each area is safe, and ready for all children to play.

·    Answering parent questions and sharing observations about children’s play and child development

·    Answering questions about where to find resources in the community for children and parents

Meet our Director

Kim Winslow, Director of Children’s Programs

Kim has worked in preschool settings prior to her training as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Eight years in this role lead her to the Early Intervention Coordinator position for Cayuga County. We our fortunate to have Kim in her new role here at Play Space.

Kim has enjoyed her early experiences at Play Space both as an aunt and mother. She shared with us “This space has consistently provided my family and I a supportive and fun environment. Now it is a place where I get to 'work' too, My focus here is to support the space in such a way that you too, feel welcomed, encouraged, listened to and safe, each time you come through The Play Space doors”.

Kim works alongside Executive Director Nancy Tehan, as well as a team of part-time play facilitators, to enrich young children’s lives by providing a welcoming place where they and their families can play, learn, and grow together.
